Blind detection in MIMO systems via sequential Monte Carlo

چکیده
In this paper, we provide a novel sequential estimation and detection approach for multiple-input–multiple-output (MIMO) systems. The basic idea is to design a probabilistic approximation method for the computation of the maximum a posterior distribution (MAP) via the sequential Monte Carlo methods (SMC). The SMC method has two advantages over the other methods in that it is a blind method and can be computed in parallel. Furthermore, the SMC has characteristics of soft-input and soft-output in nature and, thus, it can be employed as the first stage demodulator in a turbo receiver for a coded MIMO system. Such a turbo receiver successively improves the receiver performance by iteratively exchanging the so-called extrinsic information with the MAP outer channel decoder. Finally, the performance of the proposed sequential Monte Carlo receiver is demonstrated through computer simulations for the MIMO systems over the single-path and multipath fading channels.

Semi-blind MIMO channel tracking using auxiliary particle filtering
In multiple antenna communications, the impulse responses of the channels are frequently assumed to be fixed. However, if multiple antennas are used in mobile terminals, this assumption is weakened. In this paper, we propose using a sequential Monte Carlo method, which is robust even in non-Gaussian environments, in conjunction with current detection algorithms for tracking the channel matrix t...
متن کاملA new class of soft MIMO demodulation algorithms
We propose a new class of soft-input soft-output demodulation schemes for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channels, based on the sequential Monte Carlo (SMC) framework under both stochastic and deterministic settings. The stochastic SMC sampler generates MIMO symbol samples based on importance sampling and resampling techniques, whereas the deterministic SMC approach recursively performs ...
متن کاملNonparametric Adaptive Detection in Fading Channels Based on Sequential Monte Carlo and Bayesian Model Averaging*
Recently, a Bayesian receiver for blind detection in fading channels has been proposed by Chen, Wang and Liu (2000, IEEE Trans. Inform. Theory , 46, 2079–2094), based on the sequential Monte Carlo methodology. That work is built on a parametric modelling of the fading process in the form of a state-space model, and assumes the knowledge of the second-order statistics of the fading channel. In t...
متن کاملSequential Map Equalization of Mimo Channels with Unknown Order
Practical equalization of multiple input multiple output (MIMO) channels poses several difficulties. Namely, it is well known that the complexity of maximum a posteriori (MAP) data detection grows exponentially with the number of inputs and the channel order, i.e., the length of the channel impulse response (CIR). Moreover, knowledge of the latter parameter is needed for reliable data detection...
متن کاملApproaching the Capacity of Large-Scale MIMO Systems via Non-Binary LDPC Codes
In this paper, the application of non-binary low-density parity-check (NBLDPC) codes to MIMO systems which employ hundreds of antennas at both the transmitter and the receiver has been proposed. Together with the well-known low-complexity MMSE detection, the moderate length NBLDPC codes can operate closer to the MIMO capacity, e.g., capacity-gap about 3.5 dB (the best known gap is more than 7 d...
